BMW now requires an approved wireless steering wheel level and up-to-date alignment software as part of every wheel alignment, under bulletin SI 03 01 26 (270). It's already in effect, not something coming later, and it applies whether you're running Hunter or Beissbarth equipment.
If your setup isn't updated, you won't be able to align new BMW models as of July 2027.
The steering wheel level is a small wireless sensor that clips onto the wheel and reads its exact angle during alignment. It's battery-powered and USB-rechargeable, and it sends its reading straight to your alignment software over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth rather than requiring anyone to measure or eyeball it. Once it's fitted and paired, the position gets picked up automatically and recorded on the printout as the alignment is carried out, so there's no manual entry and nothing to get wrong.
